Strikes me that you've just got your bee-in-a-bonnet because someone like myself won't stand for customers who think they can just waltz into a GAME branch and bully the staff into submission. Its not nice and to be perfectly honest we'd rather you're type shop somewhere else so as our 'real' customers can continue with their shopping in relative peace without being subjected to some loud mouth bleating on about 'his rights'.

Gentlemen, I'm afraid you're very much in the minority. Thousands of customers shop at GAME stores across the country everyday and are more than happy to shop at GAME, are happy with the service and are happy with the prices. 99% of the customers who venture into our GAME store are more than happy and often comment on our good service; this weekend and the Wii launch being of particular note.

By the way, I'm not a manager you just assumed I was, much like everything else you've posted.
First of all, I never condoned abusive or bullying behaviour... read my post a little more closely and you'll see the words "within reason".

I never assumed you were one of the one's pushing unwanted sales on customers, I came to the conclusion that you weren't very good at customer relations from the blind ignorance you were demonstrating in your previous posts.

Forgive me for the manager thing, it was something I thought I had seen in an older topic, it must have been someone else from the forum. At least you don't have ideas above your station.

Lastly, don't patronise me about operations within the stores. I've worked in three branches and was training up to become a manager before I left because I was disgusted at the way the company was treating it's staff and customers in the run-up to some major console launches. I know the training, and I know how things get done there.

Fact is, Bumpkin, like many other people trying to get their hands on consoles from your stores (as well as Gamestation) during the busier Christmas period are being treated unfairly and unethically. No matter how much you wish you could dismiss them, consumer rights are law and need to be adhered to... whether the company admits to its failings or not.

Though the customer is entitled to buy the console seperately, unless the bundles were packaged at the source (a la Wii + Wii Sports)... YOU are forcing the customer to make the "choice" of not getting what they want, or paying through the nose to get it with a bunch of stuff they don't want.

Listen to you blindly defending GAME, what a complete Jobsworth twat you are! You have no idea what happened to me in game or how the situation arose, yet you've jumped to all sorts of conclusions ie. what would happen if they didn't scan my items - you presume I would have gone on a massive rage smashing the shop up along with the greasy teens that work there. There is nothing wrong about sticking up for yourself - GAME is not its own planet with its own rules

Honest to god mate open you're eyes - in a couple of years when game bugger you out of a job then we'll see what song you're singing. But in the mean time don't jump to conclusions and certainly don't blindly defend policy which is so obvioulsy wrong and exploitative you end up looking like a complete brainwashed git unable to think for himself, and has no ideas outside of the GAMES' 'This is what you should think' textbook.

And I don't wish redundancy on anyone,

Well I'm done here as it seems you lot have made up your minds that all retail staff are incompetent twats who work for evil corperations and who would sell their grandmother for a profit.
In a proverbial nutshell. The proofs in the policy old son. While I'm sure there are individuals that are customer focused and that give good advice, by far the majority are the under pressure, 5 pound an hour brigade who will tow whatever line their manager tells them to. Usually the manager themself is towing the line sent down from head office.

Now I've got a fair degree of experience with Retail managers and management, and I've also got a wealth of experience of the type of management doctrine they train them with (in fact it varies so little from company to company you could write a Retail Managers Handbook and use it to train management across the vast majority of retail chains with little or no editing) and its pretty much exactly what you described.

On another note, lets try to keep things impersonal. I can see this thread rapidly spiralling toward some lockage and at the end of the day we are all simply expressing opinions based on personal experience.

Good god. No ones defending GAME, I'm mearly defending my own right as an employee against agressive and obnoxious little twerps like yourself. Just another big man being brave on the internet, thats all you are. I actually doubt there's any truth to your little tail that started this whole thing in the first place.

I'm out of here. Good riddence.

Good god, read my posts, there was nothing aggressive in the whole necounter. A bit of anger yeah. But it was a bit provoked by the smarmy git telling me that if i didn't want it someone else would proceeding to grin at me. It more of a pride thing I guess, I could hardly just walk away that grin would of haunted me for the rest of my life! And yes it was quite satisfying watching it fall from his face, and his new found big balls shrink back up to where they belong.

And being brave on the internet! Agaisn't whom?? Had we had this conversation face to face I'm sure nothing would have been lost in translation and the topic would of swiftly moved on.

Cheer up, and get the whole thing into perspective
I'm out of here. Good riddence.
I feel bad now :( Come back - twas nothing personal *tries to hug* We've both said our piece. Forgive and forget??

People who defend their company are stupid. I work for one thing: money.

I had a few problems with Game in the past year, the first time was when i went into buy the Donkey Konga bongos, i seen they had 4 on the shelf, but one was priced lower, so i then took the lowest priced copy to the counter, they could not find that particular copy, so they rufused to offer me another, i got onto the head office and they order the shop to sell me it for that price since it had been on the shelf.

Another one that is going on now, is that i purchased the buzz big quiz, but when i got home i found that they had put the music quiz disc in the cover instead, this is quite annoying since i bought the game in Belfast and did not find out until i returned to Norway.

I had a similair problem with discs concerning Gamestation in Sheffield, they gave me a Dreamcast version of Tomb Raider instead of the Playstation copy i tried to buy.
