Telltale Games brought players back into the world of the undead with the debut of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier back in December, with Javier, Clementine, and the rest of the cast’s story to finish in just a few weeks.

Developer Telltale Games has announced that the season finale for The Walking Dead: A New Frontier will arrive on May 30th, 2017, with the fifth and final episode of the season (titled “From the Gallows”) to wrap up the story.

Clementine Closes Up Telltale's The Walking Dead Next Year

Final season ends story once and for all

Telltale’s announced The Walking Dead: The Final Season, which will cast Clementine back in the lead role, and end its adaptation of the comic book series seemingly for good.

The title – which is in production now – will pick up after the events of The New Frontier, which in some ways felt like the stepping stones on the path towards some kind of climactic conclusion for our favourite short-haired heroine.

Telltale Games lays off 25 percent of workforce

Telltale Games, the studio behind episodic series based on The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Minecraft, is laying off 25 percent of its workforce. The company announced a restructuring, which will affect 90 employees, in a news release.

In a statement, Telltale said the decision to lay off staff is design to make the company “more competitive as a developer and publisher of groundbreaking story-driven gaming experiences with an emphasis on high quality in the years ahead.”

“Our industry has shifted in tremendous ways over the past few years,” Telltale Games CEO Pete Hawley said in a statement. “The realities of the environment we face moving forward demand we evolve, as well, reorienting our organization with a focus on delivering fewer, better games with a smaller team.”

The restructuring is “not expected to impact the release of any of the company’s previously announced projects,” Telltale said.

Telltale also said it plans to move its internal development “over to more proven technologies that will fast-track innovation in its core products.” The developer didn’t specify which technology it will be pursuing, but Telltale has received criticism for the technical performance of its products for years.

Telltale’s current projects include Minecraft: Story Mode, Guardians of the Galaxy and the fourth and final entry in The Walking Dead series.
