The Official Transformers Game Thread

Post by TheBoyInGreen » Wed Jun 17, 2009 12:38 pm

Anyone gonna get this? I enjoyed the last game, despite how basic it was, and the fact the new one has multiplayer has gotten me pretty excited.

I've been shopping around for the best pre-order prices/offers for the 360 version, and I have found...

Amazon - £37.96 with Starscream as an unlockable character for single player campaign.
Game - £39.99 with a gold Optimus and gold Megatron unlocked for multiplayer, and I am assuming an exclusive cover artwork too.
Shopto - £34.85 with a free t-shirt

I know Gamestation has the free t-shirt offer instore too.

So yeah, anyone else getting this?

Slightly tempted. The last one was very average and, at times, very messy. Cant remember if I finshed the Decepticon campaign in the end or not.

Problem is I really really dont want to spend more than 30 beans on it especially as I have Ghostbusters and Fight Night Round 4 on pre-order this month. Think Im going to wait for reviews and if they show an average game then wait for the price to plummet.

I'll rent it from lovefilm if its good but I'm not hopeful tbh. The potential for it to be awesome is there but looking at what happened with the last one...

To be honest though, it can't be worse than the first game which I kinda enjoyed. It was £29.99 on Amazon last week, I wish I pre-ordered it then.

The lack of reviews before release is always a bad sign. But from what I've heard it's not too bad.
The thing that pissed me off about the last one was not being able to transform mid-jump, which is worth anybody's money.

Lack of reviews? There has been loads.

Gamespot gave it a favourable 7.5.

I got it today, and I have to say it is a lot of fun. I may be biased as I'm a massive TF fan in the first place, I've done about 1/2 the Autobot campaign, and I'm really enjoying it.
I also took it online and had a bit of a deathmatch, which was quite interesting, I played as Starscream and basically just flew around bombing people :D
The only thing I don't like is the fact that there is a multiplayer character called Arielbot who is actually FireFlight, and there is also one called Protectobot, who is actually Streetwise... but really they are just fanboy gripes...

Til all are one!!!

I've finished the Autobot campaign too, and I'm about to start the decpticon one.

Although I'm enjoying, I can't help but think that they could have made it so much better. It isn't even in the same league as the Transformers Armada game on the PS2 (best TF game ever). The right trigger transforming mechanic is starting to annoy me a bit (I keep getting cramp in my finger when in vehicle mode).

I'm looking forward to wreaking some havoc as the Decepticons later tonight, then maybe some more multiplayer... :D
