Sega released a new trailer of Valkyria Chronicles 4 showcasing the setting of the game and some of the main characters that you'll play.

That looked impressive. This series should never have been sidelined on a poxy handheld. The first game is easily one of the top PS3 games.

I think the Xbox version is more surprising here honestly.

Well to be fair, since the first game was released on Steam, I'm not surprised at the cross platform release now. Given that the PS4 and Xbox are essentially the same thing, even with the fact that Xbox is a non-entity in Japan, releasing VC4 on both wouldn't require too much effort on Sega's part. The Switch version has peaked my curiosity however.

So I just watched that with the sound off as we are away and both the missus and little one are asleep within 4 feet of me, and it was the most baffling non sensical thing imaginable. Only one of these I played is the One that got a Vita release, enjoyed it but never finished it, think it might have been a port of a ps2 game as it only seemed to have about 4 maps so got a bit bored of constantly doing the same thing over and over.

That is most likely VC 2, widely considered the weakest in the series. Given the first game is now on Steam (and I imagine PSN?) I would strongly recommend it.

Yeah, VC2 is the black sheep of the series (if you don't count Revolution as part of the main franchise) and as a PSP title it was a bit limited in scope.

Like Pious I'd also recommend just giving the remaster on PS4 a try, bar a couple of trial & error missions and a rather nonsensical grade system for the mission rewards it's still a fine game by today's standards.

VC2 is good for what it is. One guy stabs himself because the girl he likes is colourblind. That is a literal thing. And it’s entertainment factor can not be argued with

Female colour-blindness is so rare. Astronomically so. This game sounds dumb.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 recently had a new character introduction trailer

showing off a few lines of dialogue for characters we’ve seen in previous press releases, plus our first look at the Centurion in action.
