with Civ Revolution's launch now occupying July 8 on all three platforms, the publisher has come through with a make-good for console gamers. The publisher said today that it would be releasing a single- and multiplayer demo through Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network this Thursday. The demo will be available worldwide through Xbox Live at 2 a.m. local time, and go live on Thursday as part of Sony's weekly PSN update in North America. Take-Two expects to role out the PSN demo to its global audience later this year.
As for the demo's contents, players will be able to assume either Caesar's laurel wreath as the head of Rome or Cleopatra's crook and flail as Egypt's pharaoh. Players can either play against the game's computer-controlled opponents up to 1250 AD or head online to battle it out with human opponents over the same time period. The demo also comes packed with a tutorial for those unfamiliar with Civilization's turn-based gameplay.
All said, the demo will occupy about 1.08GB of hard disc space.

I have played the 360 version (why it had to be 1.25gb I don't know, could have been smaller if they cut out all the FMV shite
), and I have to say, I has totally sold the game to me. I think anyone who liked Catan or Carcassonne would really lap this up. It's got so much depth (although it is very confusing, it would be nice if I had a book to read the rules whilst I am playing), you can just rush in and make war with everyone before the arms race starts, or you can go deftly about your own business, just trading between the factions you trust wont screw you over. I really hope some more people would show some interest in this, as I really do think it has the potential to bring back the days of all them hours you lot used to play Catan. My tip for sleeper hit of the year. Try this demo out guys, I am sure most of you will be impressed once you learn how the interface works.

Nice to see video chat been a feature of this game, but its a shame its only 4-up for online matches. I wonder if you can set extra CPU players to make it more interesting? Also nice to see it will support DLC for LIVE users. After playing the demo numerous times, I am getting quite excited about this.Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution for Xbox 360 Features:
Choose Your Civ: Choose from 16 Civilizations and their fearless leaders and guide them to victory.
Fast-Paced Action: Accessible maps and streamlined time scale will deliver quicker games and constant action.
Civilopedia: An invaluable in-game multi-media resource that informs and entertains players with authentic videos, pictures and background information about the real world elements in Civilization.
Xbox Live Multi player: Up to 4 players can battle as teams, head to head, or have a complete free-for-all.
Integrated Video and Voice Chat: When playing a friend (or foe) in multi-player, interact with them in a whole new way.
Downloadable Content: Players with Xbox Live will be able to download extra content like multiplayer maps and scenarios.
Tutorial: Firaxis will guide new players through their first game – they’ll learn from the masters and be well on their way to ruling the world.

Apparently the reason they have only made it 4 players is because the maps are so much smaller for the online games than they are in the PC version.
Civ IV on the pc was 8 players max and I played games that lasted 7 hours at times, which is ridiculous and something I don't have time for anymore.
I'm looking forward to playing the demo tonight, going to download it when I get in.

Well, I've played Civ for years... my one worry was that it was basically going to be Civ IV, with prettier graphics, smaller maps and shorter online games. Which kind of made it hard for me in my head to justify buying.
Although, once I play the demo I'll see what I think.
