...What's wrong with Tetris? (I'm going to regret asking this, aren't I?)

I'm great at shovel knight, now. My death rate on Spectre Knight is in the mere high tens rather than the low hundreds. That shovel guy just actually liked death,

I read today that video games could be an effective treatment for dementia.

Should we get the aging population to play Devil May Cry 3? I feel like there are few games that make me feel as engaged as that one. Difficult boss fights in FFXIV are the nearest thing, Bloodborne as well maybe.

Doesn't getting too engaged in games just mean that you'll forget other things instead, such as sleeping, eating , socialising etc ?

This is the thing for me as I rethink my relationship with video-games. Overall I don't feel like they contribute much good to my life right now and maybe hold me back career-wise and in making real-life connections. But I quite like the idea that keeping the interest in gaming might stave off something like dementia.

At the same time it's like one of those things where people say coffee is really good for you except for the parts where it's really bad for you.

Its hitting that balance between enjoyment and obsession. Think about when you play games and what you might reasonably be doing if you weren't, but be practical & realistic.

For me - I play games first thing in the morning for an hour or two before I go to work, since I tend to wake up early. I then play on weekend mornings for longer, as my missus likes a lie in (whilst I still wake up around 4-5am).

I prefer to play than watch regular TV, but I do watch 5-6 regular TV shows a week (Handmaids Tale, Twin Peaks, GoT, Once Upon a Time, WWE Raw/Smackdown) and we'll watch a movie a couple of times two. Weekend day/evenings I LARP, boardgame, socialise and DIY.

So in my case I don't feel that my gaming impinges on other stuff I'd be doing.

However if you could find something you'd find more fulfilling than playing games, then do so, but I wouldn't see a 'benefit' say of just swapping out gaming for TV watching, or reading works of fiction.

It's so hard to balance time between work, sleep, video games and comics I don't know how people find time for anything else. I don't even have time to commit to TV shows, one because I think they're too long but also who has the time? Think about all those games you're not playing, or comics you're reading, or Z's you're not catching.

I just learnt that if you put a famous building in a game you have to pay a licensing fee. That's nuts.
