Looks beautiful, and yay Toy Story world finally. I've got the PS4 collection ready to play at some point, so I should hopefully get through all that before getting to 3 next year (assuming its not delayed further).

Yeah properly hyped after that latest trailer, still got a 2018 release date too...I’m thinking late November/early December.

I wish this was Kingdom Hearts: Reboot or something. I think it looks really good and I love the choice of Disney worlds here but I don't know if I'm ready for a game where I miss story knowledge from one main game and a billion spin-offs. Plus I barely remember what happened in the original as well.

I’m in much the same boat, haven’t played any of the others yet, but they’ve said before that this KH is one folks of all climbs will be able to enjoy without any previous knowledge of the series, so I wouldn’t worry, just dive in or watch the story movie summaries on YT before it releases if you must.

I’m still planning on making my way through the Final mix HD collection before release though, but I haven’t touched it yet.

Don't watch story movie summaries. Kingdom Hearts' story is aggressive stupid and very much of that emo-deviant-art aesthetic. You'll just give yourself reasons to hate it.

Just dive in and enjoy the fun combat and cool Disney stuff and maybe some Final Fantasy cameos. Take a shot everytime they say 'heart' or 'darkness'.

There's no way I'll ever watch a story summary in my life. I either go through a game series from start to finish or I just have to live with not knowing everything (which so far I've only done once with Uncharted 2).

I'm still undecided how to do it here but playing the spin-offs is out of the question. Playing KH II is feasable so maybe that'll happen.

It's also kind of funny how the game pushes franchises that are kind of 'B-Tier' nowadays because it has been in development for a century. Frozen? Yeah, never heard of that either.

Theres a whole thread on ResetEra right now about this very conundrum.

1.5 + 2.5 final mix collection on PS4 has mostly everything you need, I believe you need to get 2.8 final chapter prologue too though for Dream Drop Distance HD and the 0.2 KH3 Prologue.

The folks on ERA reckon the bare minimum is KH1, KH2 and DDD HD.

It’s taking all my maturity to not make a post that just reads “Kingdom Farts”

Back in the day this was a problem with Kingdom Hearts II as well.

A bunch of stuff happened to Sora in a gameboy game that no-one played and they never explained any of it.

If you play all those games I don't think it will help you enjoy KHIII more. Some of them are dated in a way that'll really annoy.

KHIII looks really cool so I'm down for it but I've completely forgotten KHI and II.

Fun fact: I actually played Chain of Memories.

Can't remember anything about it though.

I want to know what stuff they're smoking to come up with those nonsensical names.

You done forgot 358/2 Days.

I read what that meant before and it's sort of cool in an embarrassing way.

It's the year preceding the week of Roxas' life shown in KHII (365-7 = 358 days) and through (/) the perspective of two (2) different people.

I have no idea what that fucking game is but that title, holy shit.

The Classic Kingdom will feature new mini-games inspired by classic Disney cartoons and 1980s LCD games that will be available to play in Kingdom Hearts III.
