I've only ever played the first and absolutely loved it, for some reason I never got round to playing the 2nd game though, despite having it on Steam for quite some time now.

Very pleased to see the series continue though, Darksiders was one of my favourite games of the last generation and a seriously underappreciated gem.

Play it. But don't expect anything. That way, it'll be a nice surprise 8)

I don't know anything about Darksiders, but doesn't this trailer seem kind of bad?

It's a really weird scene and then it awkwardly cuts away to this strange fight.

I bought the first two yesterday because the third one finally gave me a reason to give them a try. I think it's good the series is back, there aren't that many colourful adventures left in today's gaming landscape.

They're on sale on both PSN and Xbox Live btw. and pretty cheap, too, if you're in the same boat as I am.

Today, publisher THQ Nordic and developer Gunfire Games officially revealed Darksiders III’s gameplay (via IGN) in 12 new minutes of pre-alpha footage.

Needs a lot of work as far as the combat is concerned, from animations, to camera position and hit-feedback. Everything else looks pretty good already though, I really love the design and feel of the world.

Yeah the combat looked flat and uninspired. Bland enemy attack patterns with a simple generous dodge. No timing bonus or parry/blocking system. That whip looked shite. I'd get bored of that quick. Perhaps it opens up or the person playing it was rubbish. Didn't see any death pick ups. Makes me wonder if there's any progression system or its just down to items/gear.

World looked good though. There's that. Story hopefully will be good too. I'd like to see how that progresses.

Well it's probably about 18 months away from release and considering the world and engine and stuff seems rather complete so far they can now focus on the immediate gameplay features, with combat hopefully being the priority. I hope they take a good look at Lords of Shadow to take some inspiration for their whip-fighting because that game pretty much nailed it in terms of moves and feedback.

I don't get why they'd show gameplay if it looks like that.

I mean I see the 'Pre Alpha' bit but still.
