I sort of get it's aimed at kids but ....

There's a train of thought along the lines of a small child going:

"Hey dad you know that console you payed £250 for, well I want to mount parts of it in cardboard holders and play around with it.... Oh maybe I've now just broken the screen, or a joycon or two, oh they cost how much to replace ... ?"

Oh I'm sure I'm just being ridiculous , I mean no-one ever accidentally hurled a Wiimote did they ?

Nintendo's strategy plan. Charge 60 quid a pop for some junk that degrades to be unusable and can possibly break the Switch itself, resulting in re-ups.

This is what makes me kind of mad about it because I've read about a few people who've been saying WiiU was awful that they now own a Switch. Nobody from over here but on the web at large.

Oh well, good for Nintendo. Really glad they're back on top, kind of.

Hollow Knight Receives First Nintendo Switch Gameplay; Free Gods & Glory Expansion Unveiled

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45elF-Suth0

Hollow Knight: Gods & Glory will be the game’s third free content pack, following The Grimm Troupe and Hidden Dreams, which released last year. This expansion is described by the developers as “an epic celebration of Hallownest’s Glory and the final chapter of the Knight’s journey.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBxtfDAtVTY

Content-wise, the expansion is poised to include a new character, the alluring Godseeker, and a new quest that will have players encountering many new bosses and new music tracks. Gods & Glory will also give players the ability to glorify (or improve) their charms and will include a new game mode once you beat the story of the expansion. Unfortunately, Team Cherry did not say what exactly this game mode was, just that it is “long requested and is a classic for the genre.”

And...

After initially announcing the Nintendo Switch online service to start in Fall 2017, Nintendo shared in its latest financial results briefing that it will start in September 2018.

Here’s a quote from Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima:
Next let’s talk about Nintendo Switch Online, the paid subscription service that expands the online functionality of the Nintendo Switch. We reported previously that the service would launch in 2018, and now the official start time has been set to September 2018. Work is progressing on ways to further heighten the gaming experience for consumers. Details will be made available as they are finalized.

The Nintendo Switch online service starts September 2018 and will be free until then. The pricing is at $20 for a year of service
