20th Century Fox game division FoxNext Games has acquired game developer Cold Iron Studios, which is developing an online shooter set in the Alien universe for console and PC.

Cold Iron Studios was founded in 2015 by former Cryptic Studios developers, including CEO Craig Zinkievich, chief technology officer Shannon Posniewski, and creative director Matt Highison.

“Cold Iron Studios has amazing design, craftsmanship and development talent that we are excited to welcome at FoxNext Games as we pursue our goal to build a multi-platform, multi-genre portfolio of great games,” Aaron Loeb, president of studios at FoxNext Games said in a press release. “I am a personal fan of Cold Iron’s previous work and all of us at FoxNext Games are thrilled to be working with them as they create an action-packed persistent world, steeped in the mysteries of this beloved Alien universe.”

Zinkievich added, “We believe in FoxNext’s vision and we are thrilled about the opportunity to explore an amazing and rich universe. Our background in building online worlds and taking established franchises to the next level in interactive entertainment is a precise fit with our product roadmap ahead; we can’t wait to share more information soon.”

Not really sure where else to put this, so it's going in here. New Sonic ally announced:

Why do they sound like weird kinky instructions recently? Cream the Rabbit, now this?!

How exactly would one go about tangling a lemur in the first place?

Thing is, as a gamer I'm quite happy to pick up games in sales or 2nd hand for <£10 that'll often keep me occupied for a month or two. So my contribution to the industry is quite small, yet if they moved to an online subscription model of say £10/mth they'd get more from me, which spread across other gamers in my situation, might give a better overall return than the current model where a new release will sell for £40 then often drop steeply anyway.

Of course I wouldn't be at all surprised if the MS Game Pass pricing was an introductory offer and in a few years it became tiered pricing so you paid more for access to new releases etc.

Nice to see a new IP at the top of the UK (by console format) sales chart.

1 (-) Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PS4)
2 (4) FIFA 18 (PS4)
3 (-) Bayonetta 2 (NS)
4 (1) Shadow Of The Colossus (PS4)
5 (8) Grand Theft Auto V (PS4)
6 (15)Grand Theft Auto V (XO)
7 (-) Kingdom Come: Deliverance (XO)
8 (3) Monster Hunter: World (PS4)
9 (-) FIFA 18 (NS)
10(5) Mario Kart Delux (NS)

I'm still surprised how many copies GTA V sells.

So EA announced the long rumoured Burnout Paradise Remaster today. Which is a really weird one because A) Paradise already ran really smoothly on Last-Gen, B) it wasn't even that good and most people consider it the worst Burnout game and C) re-licensing a Guns 'n Roses song means it's probably the most expensive remaster ever.

I really want a 1080p/60fps Mass Effect Trilogy.

Just an easy remaster at the end of the day, for me it was relatively enjoyable, but would have benefited from fixed route races.
Even better give me a Burnout 2 remake.
